OUR STORY

 

Jean Percy School of Barbering was officially established on March 5, 2022 in Cypress, Texas, with a mission rooted in empowerment, redemption, and community. In January 2023, we welcomed our very first student, marking the beginning of a legacy that continues to grow every day.

Founded by Alfred Ross and his wife Zelda Ross, the school was created to be more than just a place to learn barbering. Together, they envisioned a community where education, artistry, and second chances come together to transform lives.

Why “Jean Percy”?

The name Jean Percy honors two important figures in Alfred’s life:

- Thelma Jean Ross(Alfred’s mother) — a gifted musician whose creativity inspires our  values.
- Percy L. Gray(Zelda’s mother) — a respected educator who instilled discipline and compassion.

By combining their names, the school pays tribute to artistry and education — two pillars that define our mission.

About Our Founder

Alfred Ross is more than an instructor — he is a mentor, leader, and living testament to the power of barbering. Having overcome personal struggles and drug addiction Alfred  rediscovered his purpose through the barbering trade, Alfred built this school to share that same opportunity with others. Alongside his wife, he has worked tirelessly to create an environment where students are trained as skilled professionals and prepared to serve as leaders in their communities.

Our Mission Today

At Jean Percy School of Barbering, we train students to master the craft of barbering while instilling professionalism, service, and leadership. Students gain hands-on experience in both technical skills and real-world community outreach, from back-to-school drives to serving veterans and families in need.

For us, barbering goes beyond haircuts. It’s about changing lives, one student and one client at a time.
